20 hours of CPD with a certificate for your CPD portfolio. The waiting list hears first when cohort dates open, with card and NHS purchase order booking.

Who this is for

  • New and aspiring POCT coordinators who want the whole job, structured
  • Coordinators who inherited a service and need to take control of it
  • Deputies preparing to step up, and managers formalising the role
  • Biomedical scientists moving from the bench into POCT

What you will leave able to do

  • Own the full coordinator brief: governance, quality, training, devices, data
  • Build your service file during the programme: committee papers, registers, plans
  • Run QC, EQA, competency and ISO 15189:2022 readiness as one system, not four chores
  • Navigate the politics: clinicians, wards, IT, procurement and the lab
  • Leave with a 90 day plan reviewed live in your first follow-up clinic
  • Join a cohort of peers who stay with you after the programme ends

Course lead

Led by a specialist who has worked every side of POCT

Your course lead has spent a career in point of care testing: implementing, validating and supporting services day to day inside hospitals, consulting to device manufacturers and distributors on POCT and market access, and leading product management for POCT IT solutions. Every module draws on that mix of bench, business and digital, done for real.

Questions, answered

How is this different from the qualification routes?

The established qualification routes are excellent but gated: they require professional registration and specific memberships, with limited places. This programme is open, practical and built around your actual service. Many coordinators do both.

When does the next cohort start?

Cohort dates are announced on this page and to the waiting list first. Seats are limited so the live clinics stay small.

What if I miss a live session?

Every session is recorded and you keep the recordings. The clinics are small enough to catch you up.

Does this count as CPD?

The programme represents 20 hours of CPD with a certificate for your portfolio.

Does this help with NMC revalidation?

Yes, specifically. The live sessions are participatory learning, and your certificate splits the hours: 12 participatory plus 8 independent. Participatory hours are the ones nurses find hardest to evidence.

Can my employer pay by purchase order?

Yes. Employers usually fund this kind of programme. NHS purchase orders are welcome and we invoice with your PO number.

Is there a guarantee?

If the programme is not right for you after the first live session, tell us and we will refund you in full, or transfer you to a later cohort.
